Introduction

The Accident Appeal Board is

• independent
• appointed by the Government
• a first-degree appeals body that handles legal appeals subject to occupational accident and disease legislation and other statutory accident insurance policies.

The duties, composition, and activities of the Accident Appeal Board are laid out in the Accident Appeal Board Act (30.12.2010/1316) and the Board’s rules of procedure.

The Accident Appeal Board is funded by judicial administration fees collected from statutory accident insurance institutions and confirmed annually by the Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA).
